The stuff is cheap these days, according to reports.
That's because there's a "bumper crop" of poppies in Afghanistan, and the country is still lawless. (According to this report, it's far worse than reported, and going downhill quickly.) The warlords in Afghanistan earn their AK-47 budgets by selling heroin.
The blog linked above is very interesting; it takes time to read the entries, but he's not afraid to call the Wall Street Journal's take on Afghan security "bullshit."
