Good Decision on North Ave.

Dan Vrakas has made the right decision on North Ave. (subject to the usual detail-checking yadayada).

This part will be fun to watch:

The county also plans to.... improve the intersection of North Avenue and Brookfield Road.

There's not much space available, particularly on the NE corner, which is occupied by a home which WAS the first elementary school building in the area.

And there is a water-on-the-road situation which needs attention.  Lots of ice problems on North Avenue within 100' of Brookfield Road, either direction, every winter.

Why would they not just continue to the traffic circle on Barker road? That would give 4 lane access to the Hospital and actually create a better route for Pewaukee shoppers to access the businesses around Ruby Isle. It would also create a viable alternative for capital drive during the annual construction they seem to do on it.

Paving the swamp will cost boucoup bucks--that's one reason.

And before they pave a swamp, there's the Feds and the State to deal with on the "endangered" swampland, birds, weeds, trash, and critters.

About 6 years' worth of BS.

I thought the DNR was supposed to have to start justifying shooting down projects and they had to start being more efficient when handling requests?

I'll wait six years, especially if the throw in a project to connect Y from Barker north. That would make the Capital drive area around Barker a business haven.

DNR might be more helpful, but the Feds? Good luck with that.

BTW, you know that there's a Superfund site directly north of the north terminus of Barker, right?

I don't want to THINK about the gyrations and legal fees required to pave that hookup.

I've never understood why they don't want people to pave over old contaminated sites. Seriously, isn't that the best possible solution?
